Young Voices

On Wednesday 29th January, Remove and some of the Inters and LTs went to the BP Pulse Live Arena in Birmingham to take part in Young Voices. In the afternoon, they had a three-hour rehearsal with the principal conductor, David Lawrence, and heard for the first time how it sounds to sing as part of the largest children’s choir in the world. They practised all of the songs and watched ‘Urban Strides’ performing their street dance moves. Some of the pupils were lucky enough to meet and have photos with the ‘Urban Striders’.

After a break for supper, the audience began to arrive, and excitement mounted. Finally, the concert lighting began, and the atmosphere felt electric. The concert compere introduced Wychwood School, and everyone sang and danced the night away. They were lucky enough to have MC Grammar, Tommy Blaize from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and Souparnika Nair from ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ join them as special artists for the evening. It was so exciting to sing with them.

The pupils’ favourite songs from the evening were: ‘Birdhouse in your soul’, the ‘Hairspray medley’ and ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry. It was an amazing experience and all the pupils were all buzzing when they returned to the coach to travel home.
