Welcome to Wychwood Inspires Summer School 2026

Set in the heart of Oxford, Wychwood School encourages every pupil to be ambitious, aspirational, and creative. 

Our Wychwood Inspires holiday courses are developed with this ethos in mind, designed and delivered by our own teaching staff. If you are looking for holiday courses that are more than just childcare that will encourage your child to find creative ways to solve problems in the science lab, Wychwood will inspire your child this Summer.

We hope you join us on this journey of learning and discovery and become part of our family here at Wychwood School.

All our courses are a week long, and run from 9.30am – 3.30pm, with the option to drop your child from 9.00am and collect up to 4.00pm. 

Hot lunch is included within the price.

    A Creative Writing Course for 9-13 year-olds

    Have you ever wondered if the most ordinary places might hide extraordinary secrets? What if you were the one to uncover hidden worlds and breathe life into them through your writing? This creative writing course invites you to discover the magic that may be concealed within your everyday surroundings. Here, you’ll learn to imagine and craft fantastical settings, develop intriguing characters, and weave engaging storylines that bring these hidden worlds to life.

    Inspired by celebrated authors such as Phillip Pullman and Cressida Cowell, and drawing from Oxford’s rich literary tradition, you’ll be encouraged to experiment, play, and dream big. Whether you’re just beginning to explore your imagination or already have a passion for storytelling, you’ll find the support and inspiration you need on this course. Designed for writers of all abilities, the programme will help you discover the extraordinary in the ordinary, develop new skills, and gain confidence in your unique voice.

    Information
    Children will work both independently and in small groups to create their own animation projects and films. In classes, they will explore various styles, including 2D drawn animation, stop-motion and motion graphics. The course will enable them to learn coding principles using Makecode and Python to create digital animations.

    Do you have a passion for radio, podcasting and journalism? Or just like pushing buttons?!

    In this course, you will be taught by an industry professional who has worked extensively as a radio presenter and producer. You’ll learn how to plan a radio show, talk to time, prepare interviews, learn the technicals and end up doing a radio show or podcast – produced and presented by you! You can pitch your own ideas and end up listening back to them.

    If you like talking and want to polish your listening skills or are keen to be a production whizz, this is the course for you. You’ll sharpen your presentation skills which are so important for the future and have a lot of fun at the same time in a creative environment.

All courses are for 1 week duration.

Fee
£380 (inc VAT) per week.

Hot lunch is included.
