Oxfordshire Youth Chemistry Conference

Wychwood was delighted to host the fifth Oxfordshire Youth Chemistry Conference last week on ‘Nano Chemistry’. More than 100 pupils attended from secondary schools across Oxfordshire. We would like to extend huge thanks to the Kavli Institute for their generous sponsorship of the Conference this year. We would like to congratulate all the pupils who presented papers, exhibited posters and gave talks – they certainly demonstrated that they are amazing scientists of tomorrow.

The conference was privileged to welcome the speakers: Dr. Mootaz Salman of the Kavli Institute, Prof. Iakovos Tzanakis from Oxford Brookes and Prof Sonia Contera from University of Oxford Department of Physics and the conference also had an inspirational opening message from Prof. Dame Carol Robinson from University of Oxford and Director of the Kavli Institute. Each of the delegates attending the conference were treated to a delegate welcome pack which had contents kindly donated by Salter’s Institute, Royal Society of Chemistry and Hodder Education.

Such a lovely opportunity for pupils at Wychwood to host chemistry students from Oxford High School, Headington Rye, St. Edwards, Radley College, Cokethorpe, Kings Education, Swan School, Larkmead School, Greene’s Tutorial College, Magdalen College School, and EF Academy.
