I am delighted to inform you that the Remove, Inters and Lower Transits will be participating in a ‘Young Voices’ performance at the Genting Arena in Birmingham on 21st January 2019. The girls will be joining with many other schools to form a massed choir to perform a range of popular songs specially written and arranged for the event. In the run-up, the girls will learn the songs for the concert in lessons, so it is expected that all girls will participate in the trip. This is an excellent opportunity for pupils to perform at a prestigious venue, with a much larger choir than they could normally sing in at school. The girls who attended last year had a marvellous day, and found the event to be truly uplifting.
The cost of participating in the event is expected to be no more than £45, which includes registration for the event, access to rehearsal materials, and transport to the Arena. Girls must also order a ‘Young Voices’ T-shirt to wear on the day, which is included in the price. All charges for the event will be added to your school bill. Please complete the T-shirt order form opposite to indicate the size that your daughter requires.
Participants will need to wear black trousers or skirts and a light coloured T-shirt or vest top which can be worn underneath their ‘Young Voices’ T-shirt. Pupils should bring their school P.E. hoodies, which may be worn until the start of the evening performance. Black shoes must also be worn. Each pupil must bring a re-fillable water bottle with them, but school will provide food for the day.
We will be leaving to travel to Birmingham by coach at approximately 11.30am on the 21st for a rehearsal before the concert. The evening should be finished by 9.15pm, so we will be arriving back in Oxford at around 11.15pm, depending on traffic. The girls will be asked to contact you as we get close to school to confirm their arrival time. As we will be arriving back at school at a late hour, girls may board overnight if they so wish, at an additional cost of £20.
If parents would like to attend the concert, tickets can be ordered by completing the ticket order form. The cost of any tickets ordered will be added to your school bill.
The concert organisers have strongly recommended that all students return to school on the coach after the concert, where their parents can collect them.
A risk assessment is being carried out by me, to be confirmed by the Head, of potential risk during the visit. A copy of the risk assessment can be supplied to parents/guardians on request.
If you wish your daughter to participate in the concert, please complete and return the form opposite by Tuesday 25th September. If you have any queries or further questions about the trip, please do not hesitate to contact me.
