World Book Day

1st March 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Thursday 7th March Wychwood School will be celebrating World Book Day. To mark this event we will be welcoming local veterinary surgeon and author Jonathan Cranston to our school. He will give a talk to the Remove and Inters about his varied and fascinating career as a vet and how it led to him writing his book, and then leading them in a workshop writing presentations about endangered animals. The girls will also have an opportunity to purchase copies of his book, The Travelling Vet: from Pets to Pandas, My Life in Animals, told through encounters with twenty different animals ranging from goats and pigs to giraffes, kangaroos and a giant panda. These will cost £15 each, with £3 from each sale going to support animal charities. More information about our guest can be found at jonathancranston.com/

As usual we are planning to have a second hand book sale for the whole school. Please send in any books you would like to donate for my attention.

The proceeds of the second hand book sale this year will go to the charity Book Aid International, a charity which sends books and provides learning support for libraries and schools across Africa, as well as in refugee camps and poorer countries affected by disaster.

If you would like your daughter to purchase Jonathan Cranston’s book or buy from the second hand sale please either send her to school with some money or email library@wychwoodschool.org to give permission for the costs to be added to the fees bill.
