We are writing to inform you of a ‘Dance-a-thon’ and school sleepover that will take place on Friday 6th December in support of ‘Sisters for Change’ – an organisation that focuses on the legal empowerment of marginalised women around the world. The idea is that each girl will be sponsored by friends/family to dance for as long as she possibly can! All the money raised will go towards the legal training programmes they provide for women suffering from domestic abuse. To ensure that the event is a success, we would like the girls to contribute at least £5, which should cover the cost of food/refreshments. Please can girls bring this donation with them on the night of the ‘Dance-a-thon’.
The girls will have first prep and activities will commence at 5.30pm. Supper will be at 6.30pm as usual. There will also be a film with a suitable certification in the hall, before bedtime. We shall provide some sleeping mats but not enough for everyone. The girls will be required to bring named sleeping bags. We can assure you that they will be under constant supervision throughout the evening by Mrs Johnson and ourselves in the hall, and the boarding staff in the houses. The girls will be asked to hand in their mobile phones before going to bed and they will be returned in the morning.
Girls will be given breakfast and can be collected at 8.30am once the hall is tidy. We would like the whole school to be there so please encourage your daughter to participate. Please may you complete the permission form by Friday 29th November. A full risk assessment will be filled out. If there are any allergy or dietary requirements please include them in the space provided on the consent form.
