On Tuesday 4th December I will be taking some of the dance club girls to Matthew’ Bourne’s Swan Lake at Sadlers Wells in London. Sadly I cannot fit everyone into the minibus and so tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. Please reply as soon as possible and by 8th November at the latest. This Swan Lake has a fresh look for the 21st century and when first seen it collected over 30 international accolades including an Olivier and three Tony Awards. Bourne’s powerful interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece is a passionate and contemporary Swan Lake for our times. Retaining the iconic elements of the original, Matthew Bourne and award-winning designers Lez Brotherston (set and costumes) and Paule Constable (lighting) have created an exciting re-imagining of the classic production. Thrilling, audacious and emotive, this Swan Lake is perhaps best known for replacing the female corps-de-ballet with a menacing male ensemble, shattering convention and taking the dance world by storm.
We will travel by minibus and aim to leave Wychwood at 4.00pm and we will return (traffic permitting) by approximately 11.30pm. The school will provide a packed supper and the approximate cost will be £50 per person.
