As the Study girls’ GCE English Literature course now includes teaching of The Importance of being Earnest we are taking those in Study I and II and girls planning to take Literature next year in the current Shell to a performance at The Theatre Royal, Winchester, on Tuesday 6th March, beginning at 7.30pm. ‘The Importance of Being Earnest by the master of comedy Oscar Wilde, makes a welcome return to Winchester in this wonderfully witty, deliciously decadent and classic revival from The Original Theatre Company.’
Mrs Kirby and Ms Sherlock will drive girls to the theatre. We will leave school at 5.00pm to be in plenty of time and packed suppers will be provided for boarders. Day girls are advised to bring packed suppers from home. The cost of the trip will be about £27 in total.
We are advised that the running time for the performance is 1 hour 55 minutes (plus 2 15-minute intervals). As such we would expect to leave Winchester at about 10.20pm, depending on parking, and be back at school by midnight. Boarding can be available to those who require it at the £20 bed and breakfast (trips returning after 10.00pm) rate – please indicate this on the permission form.
Otherwise, please detail how your daughter will get home once we are back at Wychwood by completing the relevant question on the submission form when giving permission for your daughter to attend the trip.
Risk assessments have been completed and are available at your request.
