Remove Make It Real Game

23rd May 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

A career is a journey and at Wychwood we feel that it is important that our girls have every opportunity to explore different career opportunities from an early age and, as part of the careers programme, your daughter is participating in an exciting learning experience on Tuesday, 11th June 2019 called The Make It Real Game. It is an innovative, interactive and experiential game in which the girls take on simulated, adult work roles, participate in a community, create a town with its services and businesses and prepare a presentation. In addition, it gives them a taster session of The Real Game, which is part of the careers programme in Inters.

Participating in the Make It Real Game allows your daughter to assume and explore aspects of adult life in a safe, supportive environment.  It is designed to emphasise the value of work and the importance of ongoing education, teamwork and positive attitudes. It teaches girls to how to define goals and plan routes for achieving them. The girls are encouraged to develop positive attitudes towards their future.

From the start of the day we would like the girls to assume the role of someone within a business and with this in mind we would like them to come to school dressed in smart business/office attire. A simple blouse and skirt or trousers would be fine but the girls would not be allowed to wear anything that is ripped or too revealing. The girls will need to be equipped with colouring pens, scissors and a glue stick. They will be off-timetable for the day, working in teams to complete a number of creative and fun activities culminating in a presentation to their peers at the end of the day.

We hope that the girls will learn about different career opportunities, gain an insight into the working world and at the same time develop key employability skills such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, time management and resilience.

We look forward to an innovative and enterprising day. If you have any questions regarding the day, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Tanya Jarrett
