I am delighted to inform you that girls in the Upper Transits and Shell who study GCSE music will be attending a GCSE music conference at the Rock Tower in Tufnell Park, London, on Thursday 18th January. This will be an excellent opportunity for pupils to focus on their set works prior to the Shell mock examination, and to gain a further insight into their performing and composing coursework. It is also a valuable chance to meet students studying music from other schools.
The cost of participating in the event is expected to be no more than £50, which includes the cost of the ticket and transport. All charges for the event will be added to your school bill. Pupils must wear school uniform to the conference. Each student will need to bring a refillable water bottle with them, but school will provide food for the day.
Unfortunately, the conference does clash with GCSE science mock examinations, but permission has been granted for pupils in Shell to sit missed papers on another occasion, to be agreed with the relevant teachers.
We will be leaving to travel to London by minibus at 8.15am on the 18th, and should arrive back in Oxford at approximately 5.15pm. The girls will be asked to contact you as we get close to school to confirm their arrival time.
A risk assessment is being carried out by me, to be confirmed by the Head, of potential risk during the visit. A copy of the risk assessment can be supplied to parents/guardians on request.
If you wish your daughter to participate in the conference, please complete and return the form below by Monday 15th January. If you have any queries or further questions about the trip, please do not hesitate to contact me.
