GCSE Options and Parents’ Evening

5th December 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians of pupils in the Lower Transits,

We are beginning the exciting time of preparing girls for choosing their Key Stage 4 (GCSE) course options.

The girls have had an initial meeting with myself and Mrs. Johnson where we explained the courses on offer next year and what they should consider when making these choices. This information will also be shared with parents at the parents’ evening in February. The GCSE course guide can be downloaded for you to read through.

Girls now have to think carefully about their initial ideas for course choices. They have been given a form on which to record these ideas, which are not yet binding, and they should bring this with them to their individual meeting. This meeting will be with either myself, Mrs Johnson or Dr Donald and the pupils have already in most cases booked their appointments.

After the individual meeting the information gathered will be shared with parents for further discussion.

Home–school communication is crucial at this time so we all help to ensure that the best possible choices are made by the pupil. There will of course be the chance to discuss this at the up-coming parents evening on Monday 10th February 2020 at 5.30pm which we hope you will be able to attend. If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us.
