Your daughter has shown an interest in participating in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme. There are three sections plus an expedition. The sections are volunteering, doing something physical (eg sport) and learning or improving a skill. These can all be activities that your daughter is currently doing; learning an instrument for example, or playing in a netball team. Please log on to www.dofe.org or speak to me for more information about what it entails.
The Bronze Award has the following structure:
Plan, train for and complete a 2 day, 1 night expedition
Plus a further 3 months in either of these three sections
To complete their DofE awards all participants must complete the expedition section. To do this participants must attend:
A training and practice expedition (2 days for Bronze)
A qualifying expedition (2 days for Bronze)
After working with A to Z Expeditions over the years we would highly recommend their services and have attached information regarding the Open Expedition dates that they have available in 2020.
Parents/guardians are responsible for booking with and making payments directly to AtoZ.
We are in the process of organising dates for the expeditions, but there will be one day at School, and two further weekend expeditions. The dates for these will be confirmed before the end of this term.
Pre-expedition information pack with lots of helpful advice, kit lists etc
Accommodation as detailed above
Camping & Bunkhouse fees
Free use of group equipment
Supervision from experienced and helpful instructors
DofE Accredited Assessors for the qualifying expedition
A to Z Expeditions provide the following free of charge:
