The School has risk assessed the situation with the novel coronavirus based on advice from ISC, BSA, Public Health England, the WHO and the Foreign Office. This is reassessed daily as further information becomes available. Please see www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public and www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/china for further information.
We believe the risk to Wychwood girls to be low.
All parents and guardians are asked to inform the school immediately if they have returned from China in the last 14 days.
Our advice would be not to travel to China over half term and to monitor the situation very carefully before deciding whether to travel to China for the holidays at Easter. We may have to ask returnees from China to be quarantined for 14 days on their return and the school is unable to supply quarantine facilities. Parents or guardians would need to manage this.
All girls who celebrated Chinese New Year were asked about their contacts on Monday and we are monitoring them carefully. All girls and staff have been reminded for the need for scrupulous personal hygiene.
It is important to note that the winter colds and coughs usual to this time of year are still present but we are asking parents to keep all girls with a high temperature at home and our recommendation would be that they see a doctor to allay any fears.
