The Wychwood Careers Fair is one of many careers events at Wychwood to help inspire the pupils and give them the tools and the knowledge to help them make informed choices about their future career options. This years’ Careers Fair took place on the Saturday 29thSeptember and was well attended by pupils, parents, governors, Wychwood staff and eighteen guest speakers.
The morning was a wonderful opportunity for the girls to and ask questions from ‘What do you do?’ to ‘How did you get there?’ and ‘Why do you enjoy your job?’ In addition it was a chance to also develop their communication and interpersonal skills. Many careers were represented such as: engineering, film production, midwifery, law, drama and graphic design. Two of our guests, Jackie Armstrong and Annabel Daly, gave talks about apprenticeships and thinking about your career journey.
Here are some comments from Wychwood pupils:
“I found the Careers Fair very helpful. I received lots of help on what I wanted to do and what options to pick for GCSE and A level.” (Lily Forster)
“I spoke to the vet and I hadn’t considered this option before, it was interesting to hear about it, and it might be and option that I consider now. (Natalie Cooke)
“I enjoyed talking to economist because I leant that maths and geography are good GCSE options if I want to do a career that is linked to economics” (Yico Liu)
“I really enjoyed talking to the RAF officer, as it was interesting to hear about the different roles you could do, such as being a photographer or journalist for the RAF” (Rebecca Smith).
