Bristol trip Information
26th September 2019
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our trip to Bristol is quickly approaching. It promises to be a fun weekend.
We will depart school at 8.00am on Friday 11th October. Upon our arrival in Bristol we will drop our bags at the Harbourside Youth Hostel before joining our guide for a walking tour of Bristol’s street art. This will be followed by a spray-painting workshop so your daughter will need to be wearing clothes that they do not mind getting dirty – and comfortable shoes, of course.
We will visit the ‘We the Curious’ science museum and planetarium for a 3D Autumn stargazing presentation. We will then go to check into the Youth Hostel before dinner. The girls will need to bring a small bag (no big suitcases please!) containing all that is needed for an overnight stay – pyjamas, slippers, toiletries, a towel, a change of clothes for Saturday and a phone charger. They may also wish to bring a change of clothes for the evening trip to the theatre as we will have been walking around all day and they may wish to feel a little more refreshed.
On Saturday morning we will have breakfast at the youth hostel before going across the harbour for our visit to the S.S. Great Britain. If the girls are feeling brave they will then have the opportunity to climb the rigging! We will be picked up at the Youth Hostel at 4.30pm for out return to school. We will be back at about 6.30pm.
Packed lunches will be provided by school for Friday and by the Youth Hostel on Saturday. Please make sure that your daughter takes a re-usable water bottle as they will not provide drinks in an effort to cut plastic waste.
Could you please complete the medical and dietary information opposite as soon as possible. We will be taking a small first aid kit, but if your daughter requires any specific medication for the duration for the trip please ensure that we are informed and that she has it with her on the day we depart.
Your daughter may take a small amount of money to spend – there is a shop at the science museum, but please do not send them with large amounts of money or other valuables. Their overnight bags will be left at the Youth Hostel during the day. They will be in a secured room, but will be unattended.
We aim to have an enjoyable and safe trip. Also, could I please ask you to check the code of conduct also attached with this letter so that you are sure of our expectations in terms of behaviour. I will be going through all the details of the trip with the girls before we depart so they are clear about safety regulations.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at h.kirby@wychwoodschool.org.
We look forward to telling you of our adventures!
Best wishes,
Helen Kirby
