Aspects of Tragedy
20th September 2019
Dear Parent or Guardian
I am writing to let you know about a trip to the Emmanuel Centre in London on Thursday, 7th November. I propose to take the Study II English Literature group to Aspects of Tragedy, an English in Action study day for A Level students. We are currently studying Othello and I am confident that the girls will benefit from listening to the four expert speakers explore the concept of tragedy.
The cost of the ticket for this event will be £30. In addition, your daughter needs to purchase a rail and underground ticket. I will meet the girls at Oxford railway station (not Oxford Parkway) at 8.45am and we will take the 9.01am train to London Paddington. From Paddington, we will take the underground to St James’s Park and then walk to the Emmanuel Centre. We will return to Oxford on the 4.52pm train from Paddington and return to Oxford railway station at 5.43pm where your daughter may either be collected or make her own way home.
I suggest that your daughter purchases her rail ticket as soon as possible in order to minimize the cost.
The trip has been discussed with and approved by Mrs Johnson and Ms Sherlock. If you would like your daughter to take advantage of this opportunity, please complete and return the permission slip opposite.
Yours sincerely
Elaine Dean
