Food for Thought: The Interschool STEAM Final

The Junior Interschool STEAM Competition, hosted at Wychwood School, concluded with an exciting and inspiring final on the theme Food for Thought. Pupils from Years 5-8 presented a diverse range of creative and thought-provoking projects, showcasing their curiosity and scientific ingenuity. Pupils enthusiastically answered judges’ questions, impressing everyone with their knowledge and passion. Parents and visitors also played a key role, casting their votes for the People’s Choice Award.

We had an engaging talk from Oxford Cow, who shared insights into dairy farming, the technology used to monitor cow health, and the importance of biodiversity. Pupils were thrilled to learn about the journey from farm to table and even got to sample some delicious ice cream! Dr. Helen Pilcher brought an extra layer of fun with a lively biscuit dunking competition, blending science and humour to great effect. The final was a fantastic celebration of creativity, teamwork, and discovery.

A special thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a memorable success. Congratulations to all the participants for their outstanding efforts and an extra well done to all the winners from Wychwood, William Fletcher Primary school, Wychwood Inspires and Oxford High.
