Welcome back to Wychwood
11th September 2020
Thank you to parents for your continued support in getting all our pupils back into school safely over the past week. Together we are all committed to providing the best education possible for Wychwood girls, while securing the health and safety of our whole school community. Thank you for continuing to follow public health guidelines and for encouraging your children to do the same. Most of them have been right on the ball and it is the staff who have struggled more than the girls with remembering the one-way system!
You are already aware of the steps we have put in place to ensure the safe return of all pupils to school but I thought I would let you know where we are at the moment:
School reopening: We are open for all girls teaching a full timetable. Some of our girls are concurrent learners, working alongside us on Teams. Prep and clubs will start from Monday 14th September.
Attendance: We have had almost complete attendance this week – well done everyone!
Coverage of the curriculum: So far, we are delighted with how much the girls seem to have retained and also learned over lockdown – exams for the Shell and Study starting on the 21st will allow us to assess this in more detail for the critical public examination classes.
Remote learning in the future: If two of our community test positive for covid we will need to close the school and self-isolate for 14 days but we are hopeful this will not be necessary, mainly because, as far as we can tell, the Wychwood community has shown itself to be responsible and considerate of others – thank you all so much.
Mental health and wellbeing: A change to the previous information sent out is that we are having socially distanced assemblies in the hall – now we have tested the system, we can fit everyone in at a 1 m distance to each other and this is so important for our unity and for building our ethos of togetherness.
As always, thank you for your support – as the numbers of cases rise as they inevitably will with so many more at work and at school, using our common sense and applying sensible precautions will become even more important. Please can we all unite to keep reminding the girls very gently of this while not frightening them so that the impact of this week’s new ways of working and learning do not wear off. Have a wonderful weekend with your daughters,
